Many people find themselves surprised at how normal and familiar hypnosis feels. It's not about being 'put under' or losing control, but rather focusing your attention inwards and becoming more aware of your inner thoughts and feelings. Hypnosis is a natural state of focused attention that we experience many times a day, like when we're deeply engrossed in a book or movie.
Many people find hypnosis deeply relaxing and enjoyable. You might experience vivid imagery, heightened awareness, or simply a sense of inner calm and peace. Your mind has incredible resources for healing and change. Hypnotherapy can help you tap into those resources and create positive shifts in your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. There's really nothing difficult in doing it...you just sit there and listen to me! You don't even need to feel relaxed during it for there to be an effect.
Online hypnotherapy really does work well. We're all accustomed to staring at the TV, mobile phones, tablets and computer screens these days and this means we're all very practised in the art of becoming hypnotised! You save on the travel time and I'm able to help a greater number of people in a vast variety of locations around the world. Win, Win! I also get to hide out from noisy, busy family life in my posh "Hypno Hut" in my garden!

Hypnotherapy could also equally be called "guided meditation" or "relaxation with positive ideas". Going into a hypnotic "trance" really does mean different things to people. Some people feel more "awake" and aware of everything, whilst others relax that bit more and lose their sense of time, just like with a good daydream. Some people even wonder whether the hypnotherapy had been effective and they go home and notice a few days later that their natural behaviour is now different in a positive way.
PLEASE NOTE that Hypnotherapy is a powerful tool, but it's not a magic bullet. It requires your active participation and willingness to cooperate. In the words of Steve Crabb "you just need to follow the instructions!"
I find there's even more misunderstanding about hypnotherapy than there is about acupuncture! Short answer is "no"...unless of course you want to bark and sound like a dog. There's no limits as to what you can achieve with hypnotherapy...you just need to think of it first. You are always in control throughout the session. You can choose to open your eyes, move your body, or end the session at any time.

I will begin by talking with you about your goals for the session and then I'll guide you through some relaxation techniques to help you enter a state of focused attention. This state is similar to daydreaming, and you'll be fully aware and in control throughout the session. For those worriers and perfectionists out there, there really isn't anything you can do that will be wrong!
I'm able to help a greater number of people because ether constraints of travelling to Emma obviously do not apply with an online session. It also means you are able to fit in sessions around your busy timetable, from the comfort of your own home or convenience of your place at work. A good internet connection is required and I usually run the sessions through Zoom (please discuss with me if you need an alternative arrangement).
You will need to be in a safe, comfortable place, whereby you're not required to drive, operate heavy machinery etc and will not be interrupted.
I usually recommend two sessions (each around 90 minutes) a couple of weeks apart. Most things can be sorted in one session with a follow-up session required to double check if anything else needs "tweaking or boosting". That said, nothing is ever guaranteed and some people do need four or five sessions, If I feel that this form of hypnotherapy is not producing the results you expect then I will always be honest and upfront about it.
There are also people that like to see me on a regular basis for general relaxation and confidence boosting, or to address issues that have cropped up in the month/s between sessions. In this way it's more akin to a coaching session.
